The check engine light in my 2001 Jeep Cherokee is on and

Customer Question

The check engine light in my 2001 Jeep Cherokee is on and the auto shop says that it is an 02 issue. I am bringing it back next week for additional inquiry. What does an 02 sensor involve?
JA: Does the light stay on, or does it blink?
Customer: Itstays on. Also, it was on 2 months ago for a day and then went off. I am on Nantucket Island and the car is never driven over 45 MPH and mostly at lower speeds.
JA: Are you fixing your Cherokee yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: The shop checked it and did not have time to investigate. I am bringing it back next week for more investigation.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Yes: Could driving at only low speeds cause an 02 sensor code?

Hi im ***** *****ke randall said there are several different codes and reasons for an o2 sensor code but in most cases the sensor is bad .dependent on engine the car can have up to 4 fitted .they monitor o2 content in exhast and calculate fuelling from this .the sensors are pretty staight forward job and are normally a couple hundred dollars
