Customer Question

Hi,
I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 130,000 miles. The car is not starting. The steering wheel does not lock. When I put in and turn the key, the radio goes on, the lights are on but the engine is absolutely silent. No crank, no whirring...nothing. Any thoughts on what the problem is?
Thanks,
Phillip Nikolis

Is your jeep an automatic or manual?
What size engine is in it?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
automatic. Not sure of engine size.

Ok

Usually when you get dead silence when trying to start it, it's a problem with the neutral safety switch.

If you can, try putting it into neutral and then try to crank the engine. It may not work, but it's worth a shot.

Please let me know.

I'll try that.

Hopefully it will be a simple solution. If not, then we will need a test light or volt meter to run some tests
