Customer Question

Engine is shaking a yellow blinking light is coming on
JA: Just to clarify, can you tell me which light it is? And does it blink first, then stay on steady?
Customer: its the {!} light and it blinks steady
JA: What is the model/year of your Jeep?
Customer: 2010 jeep wrangler jk unlimited sport
JA: Are you fixing your Wrangler yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: The jeep overheated and we put new water and antifreeze in the radiator but when we tried to start it i got a low power symbol so we tried jumping it. Ended up towing it home because it wouldnt start and now the engine spudders and when it finally starts after like 3 clicks it makes a loud engine noise and i get the flashing light {!} and it turned off
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: thats it

Hello my name is***** am an ASE Master Technician and I am glad to help you out with your question.

Expert:  Dan replied 3 months ago.

You need to get the codes. You could have a misfire due to the overheat.

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
i tried to pull the codes but it just said -------- then --done---
Expert:  Dan replied 3 months ago.

Sometimes the key dance does not always show the codes. Do you have a scan tool?

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
No i do not.
Expert:  Dan replied 3 months ago.

what kind of engine noise is it making, a knock?

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
its not knocking but more like a very load idle at 1-2000 rpms
Expert:  Dan replied 3 months ago.

An overheat can cause major engine damage. I would do a compression test on the motor just to see what you are working with.

Expert:  Dan replied 3 months ago.

It could be a coil pack issue as well, it sounds like you have a misfire.

Expert:  Dan replied 3 months ago.

Check spark, fuel, compression. You can disconnect the coils while its idling to see which cylinder is misfiring.
