I have a 2002 grand cherokee with the 4.7L high output

Customer Question

I have a 2002 grand cherokee with the 4.7L high output engine. After it gets to operating temp while driving, when the car stops but is still running, after about 2 minutes at idle the temperature goes up rapidly to the high side. Start driving again at about 50 mph it goes back to mid-range. Fan is working at idle, and when the temperature starts to climb the fan speeds up, but doesn't have any affect..

1- have you checked water pump ?

2- water thermostat ?

3- have you tried bleeding it ?'

4- have you been adding coolant to it ?

5- is the radiator clogged , would you say it over heats more at idle ?
