Customer Question

I have a 2001 jeep Cherokee sport with an auto Trans, it is making a whining noise like a power steering pump going out. It does this as soon as I start it and is most noticeable at lower speeds and a little less at highway speeds. Fluid has not been changed yet and it does not smell burnt
JA: How many miles on the car? Is it the original transmission?
Customer: 168,000
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself?
Customer: Yes
JA: Great! What have you tried so far?
Customer: Nothing yet
JA: Is there anything else the Jeep Mechanic should be aware of about your Jeep?
Customer: I bought it used and I do not know when the filter was last changed
JA: OK. Got it. I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer so you can place the $5 fully-refundable deposit now. While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the Jeep Mechanic about your situation and then connect you two.

Hello, my name is ***** ***** I will assist you today. Does the whining noise get louder or change when you turn the steering wheel to the full left or right position?
