Hello, sounds to me like there is a ground issue, BUT have you checked the bulbs first to make sure they were not burnt?
ok, did you check resistance to ground on the socket to see if you had a good ground? how good are you at electrical?

Ok so on each brake light socket there is a white wire with a tan stripe. That wire should have power when pressing the brakes. Check to see if it does.

ok that usually indicates a bad ground signal, so we start by testing for the power signals then we will move to the ground . and i appreciate the info, the more the merrier.
