1998 Grand Cherokee 5.9 Limited, fuse 18 at PDC blowing as

Customer Question

1998 Grand Cherokee 5.9 Limited, fuse 18 at PDC blowing as soon as key is turned to on position, resulting in no start.. (no fuel and no spark)..wipers running continuously..I understand from the schematics fuse 18 controls fuel pump and asd relays..however when I unplug wiper motor, the fuse does not blow and the vehicle will start..traced wires and ran appropriate tests, everything within Chrysler specs..(I am a technician also, however this has me completely stumped)

Roy

fuse 18 goes to the body control module. I would dis connect the module and see if the fuse still blows.

Tested all relays involved with fuse 18...tested multifunction switch..tested wiper motor..visually checked grounds related to circuits..grounds are tight and corrosion free...all connectors are tight and visually good...all test performed are within specs

did you dis connect the bcm as I suggested??? you may have a bad bcm.

Roy

Customer: replied 12 months ago.
Did that already..fuse still blows
Expert:  roybelding replied 12 months ago.

if the fuse still blows then it is either a fuse block or wiring from the fuse box to bcm.

Wiper motor unplugged..fuse doesn't blow..
Expert:  roybelding replied 12 months ago.

ok, does not show that in the diagram but the bcm controls that. are you sure you dis connected the bcm???

Roy

Customer: replied 12 months ago.
positive about bcm
Expert:  roybelding replied 12 months ago.

ok, then it sounds like you have found your failure. replace the wiper motor. I have double checked the diagram and it is controlled by the bcm.

I understand, however, according to test run from Alldata, motor tests good..its got me stumped
Expert:  roybelding replied 12 months ago.

you should have power from the ignition switch to the motor then the other wires sent signals from the stalk.
