My daughter is wanting to buy a jeep liberty, are 3.7 liter proned to early engine failure, are all years the same or did they ever improve the engine

The 3.7 is a good engine. Its a smaller version of the 4.7. the 3.7L is the most economic of the chrysler suv engines. 16MPG City & 22MPG Highway, the 3.7L V6 @ 210 HP, only 10 HP less then the 4.7 V8 Over all the 3.7 is a good engine. The only issues I have seen is damage to them from neglect, be sure and do all the maintenance...oil change @ 3000 miles with quality oil, etc...
