My 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0L will not start. It cranks but the console shows a key with line through it. My OBD2 reader will not sync.leading up to this condition it was:indicating 100degrees 90% of the time with the occasional correct reading of about 190deg. DTC code P 0117 caused check engine light to remain on. I replaced the temp sensor-no change. Voltage is erratic from the PCM to sensor(about 1.5VDC-not 5VDC)Do I need to replace the computer?Thank you.

HI,where did you check the voltage- at pcm or temp sensor? If checked at the sensor, check voltage at pin #16 - tan with black striped wire- for voltage. on C1 connector of the pcm. If voltage is fluctuating there, replace pcm. If not, repair tan/black striped wirePlease note, your Deposit doesn't constitute a payment. I checked at pin 16 and it is 0VDC.

Will the key chips be recognized when I install the new computer? Is there a required sequence for removing and reinstalling the PCM other than battery disconnect first? ,
Hi,Ok, the pcm must be programmed with your VIN code and mileage. Must places you can order one from will do that before shipping. If they dont, then you have to run the pcm by a dealer and have it done. about 1hr labor charge.Once programmed, it is a plug and play. no further progamming or sequencing needed
I replaced the PCM with a programmed one and it still will not start. The SKIS key indicator is still illuminated. It will not even start for 2 seconds. How can I verify the security system is not disabling the Jeep? I have 2 separate valid keys. Towing to a dealer is not realistic (over 400 miles away)Thank you.
