Hello,
I am thinking of buying a 1996 Jeep Cherokee for my son. The curreent owner says that this 4.0 Sport model is designed to drive in town with the automatic trans running in "3" gerar, and only put it into drive when you reach 55+ miles per hour. Is this correct?

Hi . Thank you for asking your question on JustAnswer. you can drive it either way..the car wont go into overdrive untill after 55 so running in drive is ok. no harm will be done

I am sorry, but I am not really good with mechanincs. Are you saying of the gears listed: "D" (in a circle) 3, 2, 1; 3 is the same as "D" and it is kay to drive it around town like this?
