Welcome and thank you for allowing me to assist you! What type of socket wrench are you using?

Chris

Customer replied334 days and 7 hours ago.

I've been using my 1/2" drive torque wrench with a deep 13mm 12pt socket, which seems to be able to grip the bolts well enough to remove them. The exterior bolts are so corroded and possibly stripped that i'm not getting a good hold on them. I was able to get the #1 bolt loose with a 1/2" 12pt wrench, but now I'm not sure if i'm using the right sockets.

Ok I recommend not using your torque wrench but instead get a large 1/2 inch breaker bar with a 6 to 12 inch extension and a 6 point socket. This combination would ensure a better grip on those stubborn bolts. Use a quality socket not a cheap Harbor Freight style socket. If you need to, rent a breaker bar from your auto parts store.

Chris.

what size socket do you suggest?

I'm got the breaker bar and the socket you suggested, but the 6 point doesn't fit on the bolts...the bolts are 12 point

Customer replied334 days and 5 hours ago.

Relist: Answer quality.
he suggested the wrong socket and is now offline...i purchased the socket he told me to use but it doesn't fit at all

Customer replied334 days and 5 hours ago.

1/2" 6 point doesn't fit

Hmmm, some 2.5 engines were 1/2 inch and some were metric. Try a 6 point 15 mm socket. ChrisCJ41083.6808802083
