Jeep Wrangler 1995 NP231 Transfer case speed sensor- manual

This answer was rated:

Jeep Wrangler 1995 NP231 Transfer case speed sensor- manual transmission. Unfortunatly someone got to this before me and all the wires from the speed sensor are the same color. I understand one is 5V, one is ground and the other is signal but which is which. How can I check? Is this what they refer to as a " Hall Effect Sensor "?

TIM :

Customer:

I only have 3 wires

TIM :

does it have cruise control?

Customer:

NO

TIM :

then #3 is the one you want to test on

Customer:

What am I testing

TIM :

of the three wires we have a 5 volt supply, speed sensor signal wire and a ground wire

Customer:

OK so I am testing cont. from #3 to ground

here is the brake down of the plug-- 31=5volt supply,#2 is ground and #3 is the signal wire
