no noises any othe time in the steering?
no, steering seems fine
ok a noise like that is usually a problem with the valving inside the steering gear box the gear box would need to be replaced to fix the noise the shake you are feeling while braking is the brake rotors the rotors are warped and that is what causes the shake the rotors will either need to be machined or replaced to fix that problem
also while turning left, feels like left tire is skidding. same problem?
yes same problem the skiding and noise are the same issue
price estimate for gear box? could a guy do this himself?
the gear box is around $500 depending on where you go the box is not hard to replace but requires some special tools to remove the steering linkage from the steering box
thanks for your time. how can i ck for a bad wheel bearing.
easiest way is to jack up the axle that you think has the bad bearing until the tire is off the ground and then grab the tire and move it side to side and up and down and see if you can feel any play in the bearing the bearing should have no play
thats it for now, thanks again
no problem always glad to help
