Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

when you turn tight corners on dry pavement does it feel normal, or does it feel like it's tight and binding?

You've got a bad transfer case position switch. This is the switch directly on top of the transfer case that runs off the rooster comb inside the transfer case. The rooster comb pushes on the end of the switch to push it to different depths depending on what position you have the shifter in. When these switches fail they can either keep the four wheel drive light on all the time or it will operate backwards. If you put it back in four wheel drive now you may very well find that the light goes out. Replacing the transfer case position switch should take care of your problem.
