how much should it cost to replace the (starter) solenoid on a 99 jeep cherokee sport?

Hello, the average cost to replace a starter which is theway to go is around $ 300 with parts and labor. If that's what he's charging for everything I'd say it's reasonable. The reason I'd suggest replacing the starter as a unit and not just the solenoid is that it'snot worth taking the chance that there might also be aproblem with the starter motor itself.
does a starter kit then include the solenoid? i.e., if i ask him to replace the starter, does the solenoid get replaced as well by definition?
That is correct the starter comes with a new solenoid.
