96 grand cherokee: It wont start in cold weather..warms..sluggish

Customer Question

I have a 96 grand cherokee. It won't start in cold weather. When the weather warms up it starts but is sluggish for a few minutes.   In cold weather it will stall after driving it down the road when it should have been warmed up. Have had it analyzed and replaced what was suggested and it still won't start in cold weather. Help.

Customer: replied 7 years ago.
where is that located? Is it on the intake?
Expert:  quickcar replied 7 years ago.
what engine do you have they are typically located in the throttle body.
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
we have already replaced that. Is it like an oxy sensor looking or is it more complex? to make sure we are talking about the same thing.
Expert:  quickcar replied 7 years ago.

no it doesnt look like an oxygen sensor it usually has a 4 wire connector and has a plunger on it, here is a picture of where its at on a 4.0l engine

Expert:  quickcar replied 7 years ago.

and here if you have a 5.2l

Customer: replied 7 years ago.
that is the one thing we haven't checked, checking now

When it is sticking, does it smell like flooding fuel?

Can it be cleaned and with what

Does it need to be replaced?

When it was analyzed it showed it was ok. but the car was running well then.

What does temp have to do with this?

Expert:  quickcar replied 7 years ago.
no when it is sticking it will not smell like flooding fuel, it can be cleaned with carb cleaner, you can check it by reomving it and like it connected to the electrical connector and turn the key on it should move in and out smoothly and stop, if it doesnt move it needs replaced, it controls air into the engine im thinking that it may be sticking when cold and then as things warm up it works as it should.
