my 4wd lever is stuck on my jeep liberty. how do i take off

Hello

The transfer case switch (position sensor) is mounted directly to the transfer case, if the lever will not move you may have a cable concern or an internal concern with the transfer case, undo the cable from the side of the lever on the transfer case and see if the lever will move, if it will the concern is not in the lever or cable

If the lever is going full travel but the four wheel drive light is staying on then most likely the transfer case switch (position sensor) is failed

Switch (position sensor) Removal

  • Raise and support the vehicle.
  • Disengage the transfer case position sensor connector from the position sensor
  • Remove the position sensor from the transfer case.
  •

    Floor console

    1. Remove the shift bezel, if equipped.
    2. Using a trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, pry shift bezel out of the floor console.
    3. Set park brake lever in the up position. (all the way up)
    4. Using a trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, disconnect the manual trans shifter boot, if equipped.
    5. Using a trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, disconnect the transfer case shifter boot, if equipped.
    6. Remove the four bolts.
    7. Lift the console at the back and remove.

    Shift lever

  • Shift transfer case into 4L. (if you can not move the lever you will have to try and work around it)
  • Raise vehicle.
  • Remove clip securing the transfer case shift cable to the shift cable support bracket
  • Disengage any additional shift cable routing clips, if necessary.
  • Disengage the shift cable from the transfer case manual lever.
  • Lower vehicle.
  • Remove the floor console as necessary to access the shifter mechanism.
  • Remove the nuts attaching lever assembly to floor pan and remove assembly and shift cable
  • Remove the shifter mechanism and cable assembly from the vehicle.
  •

I hope that this helps you
