Im trying to reset the alarm system in my 95 Jaguar XJS NOT

Customer Question

Im trying to reset the alarm system in my 95 Jaguar XJS NOT the XJ6 I cannot get it to shutoff
JA: Have you tried locking and unlocking the driver's side door using the key itself?
Customer: Notnthe key itself
JA: Are you fixing your XJ-SC yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I just changed the battery in the key fob and then went out and tried to see if it was working and then all of a sudden the alarm went off..then I immediately tried to put the key in the ignition and turned it to position 2 and and that didn't do anything..also read where yor supposed to push the valet button in the console..but this car does NOT have a valet button..I disconnected the batter but that didn't work either
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: no I need someone who knows about 90's model Jaguars

Hi, my name is ***** ***** are 2 ways to disarm these, one is with the fob, which you say is not working, the other is to insert the key in the drivers door and lock it , then unlock it with the key, have you tried this yet?

the only way i can shut it off is to disconnect the battery..for several hours then try to hookup the battery and it's still giving me the alarm

I have heard your supposed to press the valet switch in the console, but this car does not have a valet switch in the console.

not the ignition, the door lock, you need to use the key in the door lock, not the ignition.

That sucks.

TRY THIS:
Disconnect the Negative Battery Cable
Open Driver Door & LEAVE Open
Turn Ignition Switch to ON & LEAVE ON
Reconnect the Negative Battery Cable
Alarm may sound for a few seconds
When it stops Start Vehicle
IF the Alarm does NOT stop, then you will need use of a working, Programmed Remote or Jaguar Dealer Scan Tool

Let me know what you find
