Intermitent cruise control problems. Sometimes does not

Customer Question

Intermitent cruise control problems. Sometimes does not work. Switches seem fine as the ASL seems to work. Occasional warning messages (orange light) saying check rear lights (they are fine) and cruise control not working.
JA: While using the cruise control can you accelerate or decelerate? Have you checked the fuses?
Customer: Acceleration is fine. No operating problems.
JA: What is the model/year of your Jaguar?
Customer: 2006 XKR
JA: Are you fixing your XKR yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Nothing except put my OBD reader on - came back as P1111 which I think is fine.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: No thanks. I do not intend to fix this myself - beyond me. But, would like to know what problem is so I can have it repaired, hopefully without replacing a whole computer module.

Usually your symptoms are caused by a faulty brake switch. There are two micro switches in the one assembly so when one fails this problem.occurs. The brake switch is on the pedal bracket and is a little tricky to replace.
