My 2000 Jaguar Vanden Plas Super V8 displays a Transmission

Customer Question

My 2000 Jaguar Vanden Plas Super V8 displays a Transmission fault after about 40 minutes of driving. Car goes into "limp home" mode. Restarting engine clears fault. Mechanic says fault codes are not saved and cannot see anything. Had trannt opened, new fluid/filter. Problem persists ... 40 min of driving and then fault.
JA: How many miles are on the car? How has your mileage been lately?
Customer: 100,400.
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: What I indicated above ...
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: That's all I have ...

This may not be a transmission issue as a problem with the electronic throttle can be the cause. I see this when generic scan tools are used which do not read all the faults. Either a Jag factory tool is needed or the vehicle scanned when the warning is on. Mist parts stores should have a tool you can borrow. Then when the warning comes on do not turn off the engine and perform the scan with the tool. Let me know.

I will need to get my hands on a Jag factory tool and recheck the codes.

Great. Let me know.
