why want the heater control panel lights go off when key is off and switch is off. it is killing the battery

Hi there. Welcome to our site.

The most probable cause for the HVAC control panel lights staying on all the time is an internal glitch in the control panel itself. Sometimes, resetting the control panel is enough to overcome the glitch - resetting is achieved by simple disconnection and reconnection. Here is the procedure:

Removal & Installation

1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove center console ashtray. Remove center console trim plate. Remove screws and remove radio console.
2. Loosen control panel top and side screws. Pull control panel out, disconnecting connector as control module is removed. Spray WD40 on both sides of the connector. To install, reverse removal procedure.

If the above described procedure does not fix the issue, then the control panel is probably shorted internally and needs to be replaced.
