I have a 2006 Jaguar XJ Vanden Plas, I pressed the ABS

Customer Question

I have a 2006 Jaguar XJ Vanden Plas, I pressed the ABS button and the check engine light came on. Engine oil is fine, I shut off the car and restarted it, light came on again. Car operated without the check engine light coming on prior to this. What could cause the check engine light to come on?

Which button are you referring to? Was it the ASL or the traction button on the shifter?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It was the A/B button
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The button is on the panel where the Valet button is

Richard it could have been the a button on the shifter

Yes. It should say ASL?

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.

That is on the dash switch. The other switch on the shifter is the traction?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Perhaps this is the button

I was shot in the head in Vietnam, sometimes I get confused about items. What do you think is the problem.

Unfortunately I am unavailable for a phone call at this time. Yes if the traction control button on the shifter was pressed the small traction icon will come on the dash and a message will show for a second saying DSC off. This is normal. Now if the engine icon comes on there could be another issue and we would need a compatible scan tool to read any stored faults.
