Have a '99 Jag XK8, it has not been used for a while but starts perfectly. However, it will not revv over 3000 rpm and it feels like not all cylinders are kicking in. It got fueled with 95 octane gas, would that be a problem or is it something else going on?

Hello and welcome to justanswer.comAre there any warning lights or messages on? Do you have good power up to 3000 rpms? Did you try driving in manual gears? What happens when you hit 3000?
Lights going on are: check engine and restricted engine performance. It's an auto and the power seems ok up to 3000. When it hits 3000 it starts to sound like when it hits the rev regulator kicks in and its like it loses power and then gets going as it shifts gears and then same thing again on the next gear and so on.
Ok this could be due to bad fuel in the tank but it could be an engine sensor like the air flow sensor or knock sensor and can even be a problem with a coil. To be sure we will need a diagnostic scan tool to read the stored vehicle faults. You may need to visit a Jag specialist or dealer to have these faults read or you can try your local parts store like autozone or pepboys who should have an OBD II tool you can try. If you can get a four digit code we should be able to pinpoint the most likely cause.
