Customer Question

Hi Richard, first I want you to know I did find that the red and brown wire was corroded until it broke duo to a faulty isolation. The fault was in right front wheel arch just behind the headlight. Today I am working with a XK8 VIN A31878. The SRS indicator flashes first 1 time and then 7 times. I have the following DTC

RCM

B2291(24)

Occupant position sensor 4 fault, front passenger’s side.

Before proceeding, please refer to dealer technical bulletin “supplemental restraint system diagnostics”. Refer to GTR section 501-body systems.

Passenger seat weight sensing CAN circuit fault.

Passenger seat pressure sensor circuit fault.

Body processor module (ERR 0x21)

Serial communication error

When I checked with the IDS an other time I got the same for the RCM but after the BPM (ERR 0x8) the text was

The module is too busy to update the parameter

I have checked the blue and yellow wires bee twin the DLC and BPM, I have also locked at the harness under the passenger seat without seeing any damages.

Do you think the tow faults are related? Can you advice me what to do next?

Best regards Thomas

Hello and welcome back to justanswer.com

Glad to see that S type is all good.

For this XK other than the airbag warning does this vehicle have any other issues? Any recent work performed inside the vehicle?

Customer replied 283 days and 23 hours ago.

My costumer has bought the car as it is, but to my knowlidge is no work done to the car so exept for the BPM ERR every thing is working.

That is actually a software glitch with IDS where it show no communication. Sometimes it will show no communication with the security module. There really is no fix for this. You should still be able to read signals on data logger.

Customer replied 283 days and 18 hours ago.

It is not the security module, it is the body prosessor module that show no communication. The real problem is the SRS indicator. If this two issues not is related then please help me reper the SRS system.

Yes the IDS will also show no communication with the BPM due to a software glitch that they never seem to have fixed. Does this code clear but come right back on?

Customer replied 283 days and 16 hours ago.

The error for the BPM does not clear at al and the fault cod for the SRS does not clear either. Do you know a way to check the passenger seat pressure sensor circuit?

Don't worry about the BPM error as that is an error with the scan tool and not the vehicle. For that code since you have IDS calibrate the passenger seat weight sensor. After that sit in the seat and move your body around so the sensors can detect the position as well.

Hi Richard, sorry for the delay but I had outer cars to atend to. Now I have found the problem, it had nothing to do with the weight sensor, after that the customer talkt with the former owner he told me that he had a pressure hose for the hood replaced. I looked in the b-post and found that they forgot to connect the position sensor. The DTC was right but the text talked about the weight sensor. Thank you for your help.
