I have a 96 jaguar xj6...it has about 240k miles...i purposely added 87 gas when i went to beach. Had car more than two years and i never did that. Anyways in heavy traffic i notice my battery gauge fell very low. But it never dropped into the red. Next day i notice my rpm was very high than normal. Ran test and battery was good and alternator. Added gas treatment and went back to premium gas. Rpm hand was still a lil above 10 when in park. Next morning, it was high again then it fell down below 10 like normal. Later that day it was back above 10. Didnt find no leaks. One mechanic said his machine read it mass air flow. Other mechanic machine read egr. So anyways i got to tamper with the throttle body, unloosening the clamps connect to mass air flow. With air flow being off, i reached my hand up near the throttle and notice oil was inside of it. Is there a possibility this stuff can get fix or should i replace whole engine. If can be fix, what should be done? Thanks

Hello and welcome back to justanswer.com
Is the check engine light on? Does the engine idle rough at all?
Well im assuming the check engine light is on. But due to the previous owner, the bulb was remove so that i couldnt determine if the light is on or not. I just discovered this two days ago. But yes its idle kinda high. Sometimes when i put it in gear, it seems like it wanna take off fast. Please dont forget about the oil i mention in the throttle...thanks. Scan it at shop and it said air flow malfunction. Cleared codes and it still said the same. Took it to advance auto and scan it. It said egr. Cleared the codes and nothing came back. Still have the high idle though. I just hate to buy one thing to put on and it may be the other thing
Ok I see.
The high idle is usually caused by the idle air stepper motor on the throttle housing that needs to be replaced. It would help to know all the code numbers that were stored when the vehicle was scanned for the stored codes.
As far as the oil this is a breather issue and there was a procedure we do to repair it. There is breather kit along with other parts to be fitted. I would recommend having the dealer do this for you.

ive contacted Hampton Jaguar of Columbia South Carolina. They said the oil kit has been discontinued because it did not help really help the problem. They said its best to just clean it out
Some of the parts are still available but yes the system can be cleaned as part of regular servicing.
