I just purchased a new 2012 Jaguar XF Supercharged vehicle after trading in my 2005 Jaguar SR type. I've had it for one week. I cannot believe how rough (bumpy) the ride is. I do not have it in Sport mode. The supercharged comes with 20" tires. Is this a normal ride for the XF Supercharged? The car was unavailable to test drive, but I did drive a base XF which was not this bumpy at all. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.
Hello and welcome to justanswer.comUnfortunately the supercharged XF does have a much firmer ride due to the 20 inch wheels. Unfortunately you cannot downgrade the size from 20. We should make sure the tire pressures are correct as these vehicles come in with the pressures bumped up. The dealer may have not set them to spec on delivery.
I checked the tire pressure a few minutes ago. Driver's side front: 38, Drivers's side back: 38.
Passenger side front: 36.5, back: 35
The label on the door states all tires should be at 34 psi. A friend of mine says he drove the XF super. and, after driving mine, stated my car has a much rougher ride. I would not catergorize the ride as firmer; it is definitely rough enough to almost give me an upset stomach. I have not taken it above 50 mph, thinking it may just bounce off the road! (maybe exaggerating just a little bit.)
Obviously there is a problem with the tire pressure. If I get them all to 34 psi, do you think that alone would make a big difference in the ride?
You may feel a difference dropping the pressures to spec. Set them all at 34 when the tires are cold. See how it feels. If you still feel an issue have you dealer inspect the tires just in case there is an issue there. You also should be able to drive another XF with 20 inch as a comparison.
