Optional Information: Year: 1997 Make: Jaguar Model: XK8 Engine: 4.0L V8 Already Tried: Replaced timing chains ( primary and secondary ) It broke a secondary chain on the left (bank A ) and bent 2 exhaust valves. replaced valves. now when start up sounds like tenscionor not taking up slack or no oil pressure to upper end (cylimder head).
Hello and welcome to justanswer.comDid you replace the secondary chain?
Yes and the tensionors
Ok good. Did you use the tools to set the crank and cams?
Yes and torqued sprockets and balancer to spec.
All tensioners are oil fed. We may have a problem with one of the vvt units causing this. Usually the slack in the chain is caused by a stretched chain but since all were replaced we either have an oil delivery problem or the timing is off. A stuck vvt can cause this.
I knew that and checked the vvt just now it is ok, while i had it apart again I checked the oil pump and found a piece of the tensionor in it.
Yes those plastic parts can go into the pan and clog the pick up. We need to make sure all the plastic is removed.
