My 2003 S type R has 100,000 miles and has always had transmission difficulties- jumpy shifts between 2 and 3 rd I have had the transmission rebuilt - and then reprogrammed but it is only better than it was- it seems to change as well, as if the computer settings are drifting- always better after a highway drive. I have only owned it for 2 years so I do not have any history before that. any ideas?

Hello and welcome to justanswer.com
Has the gearbox fault warning come on? Can I have the last six digits of your VIN?
Richard, the fault warning was on untill the transmission was rebuilt- transmission guys blame the TCM and the Dealer is suspicious of the rebuild! M74645
Your last advise about the ignition coils being faulty was right on -thanks Paul
Was the TCM/valve body assembly replaced or rebuilt during the trans overhaul?
Richard, Yes the TCM/valve body assembly was overhauled in the transmission rebuild
Ok I think this is the problem. If the reprogram temporarily resolves the shifting but the problem returns it is usually a problem with the TCM.
