Hello and Welcome to justanswer...

This is a common fault on this model Im afraid - there is a Jaguar issued tech service bulletin as to how to go about sorting this out - so I will give you all that information to help you with this... it is as follows :

Exterior Front Door Handle Hard to Open - Deflection Of Link Rod - Replace Link Rod

Some 2002 MY-ON X-TYPE vehicles may exhibit a condition where the exterior front door handle may become stiff and eventually become inoperative.

Link rod between the exterior door latch and door handle deflects.

In case of a customer complaint of the above condition, install a new link rod as outlined below.

1. Remove the exterior front door handle

This picture I have uploaded for you will hep you - HERE.

2. Install a new exterior door handle to door latch link rod.
3. Install the exterior front door handle

For the parts that you will need - the part numbers are HERE

You will need to remove the door inner panel to access / carry out the repairs..

To do this - the instructions are as follows :

( I recommend printing these instructions asap as sometimes the pics wont load correctly on re loading. If you have any issues let me know and I wil re do them for you....)

Exterior Front Door Handle

  1. Remove the front door window glass.
  2. Remove the front door security shield.
