One month ago I took my J to Tuffy to replace the rack and pinion. Supposedly, theyalso did a 4 wheel alignment. When I got the car back, steering was very hard. I took it back and they said it wasjust the new part.I took car in today for an oil change, l,000 miles after it was last there. They told mebushings in the large mounts to tires were gone and showed me tires were worn badly.(These are new tires.) My car has not driven right since it was in for the rack and pinion. Could somethinghave happened then that has caused this problem with the bushings and tires?Thanks,XXX@XXXXXX.XXX

Hello and welcome to justanswer.com
Are you referring to the lower ball joints that are worn?
I have learned it is the lower contrtol arm bushings. I need a reply quick.
The question in my original message has not been answered.
Sorry for the delay.
I suspect the shop has shown you loose lower ball joints. This can effect tire wear but I would suspect the ball joints would have shown signs of excessive movement when the rack and pinion was replaced.
was there not some adjustment that should have been made after installing rack
and pinion that would have prevented tires from bowing in like that?
No they should have performed a four wheel alignment but other than that there is no adjustment needed.
