We act as sole distributors for a uk company with a 6 month

Customer Question

We act as sole distributors for a uk company with a 6 month notice period. Our distribution agreement was recently cancelled verbally with immediate effect.

On what grounds can we claim?

Unless there is provision for this within the contract or you yourselves have breached the term then you are entitled to sue the company in the UK for breach of contract. This will entitle you to damages/specific performance

Can you be more specific on what type of damages

How does verbal cancellation of contract effect any claim
Expert:  Ronan replied 3 years ago.
You will be able to sue for financial damages for the loss suffered over the 6 month period of notice.

The verbal cancellation is simply the form the breach of contract took. It is largely irrelevant how they cancelled the contract as they were not entitled to do so in the first place
