Hello, I am an American with a parent (mother) born and raised in Ireland. I applied for and received a passport from the Republic of Ireland a few years ago and intend to move to the Republic of Ireland over the next two years to become a permanent resident. I wanted to know if being issued an Irish passport automatically grants me Irish Citizenship (I also hold a US passport). Thank you.

Yes you are an Irish CItizen with an Irish Passport. You are entitled to Dual Citizenship in both Ireland and the US. If your mother or father was an Irish citizen born in Ireland, you are an Irish citizen even if born abroad.
