If I choose not to reply to a solicitors letter threatening action if I do not comply within seven days,(as I do not mind if the case comes to court)Will the court take a dim view of my non acknowledgement of the letter. In other words should I have responded with a solicitors letter of my own saying I am happy to see them in court if they so wish or is no reply a legitimate response?
Already Tried: We just try to ignore him but he tries everything to cause us irritation, such as reporting us to the co. council, the planning authority and even the ESB all to no avail.
1. Just because you do not reply to a solicitor's threatening letter, a court will not take a dim view of this lack of response. Essentially, the law takes the view that you are entitled to take whatever action you want. This includes ignoring correspondence you view as nonsense or simply vexatious. The onus is on the party sending the threatening letter to back it up with court proceedings. No court will take any notice of whether you gave them a reply or not.
