I would recommend Federal copywrite registration
"CopyRIGHT." that is ..
Many firms including Legal Zoom and other "onlinw law firm advertise that they can do this for you ... However,
This is something that you really can do yourself
See this: http://www.copyright.gov/
They have an "eCopyright" service, where you can do it all electronically fofr a fee of $35, rather than the normal paper filing for $65
There is even a pre-release registration service, more typically used for works that have had a history of prerelease infringement. It focuses on the infringement of movies, recorded music, and other copyrighted materials before copyright owners have had the opportunity to market fully their products. ... but if you have a specific concern here this service may make some sense
Here's the site to get you started: http://www.copyright.gov/eco/
From that page .......
File a copyright registration for your work through the Copyright Office online system.
Before using the service, we recommend you first read eCO Acceptable File Types, eCO Tips,eCO FAQs, or eCO Tutorial (PowerPoint) eCO Tutorial (PDF). For recently added features, see eCO Updates.
Processing Time: The time the Copyright Office requires to process an application varies, depending on the number of applications the Office is receiving and clearing at the time of submission and the extent of questions associated with the application.Current Processing Times
I hope this has helped ... by doing it this way, you formalize the ownership of your literary work, and can, warning letters, settlements and even formal legal action are facilitate more easily.
I still don't see you coming into the chat session, so I'll move us to the "Q&A" mode. … Maybe that will help … (We can still continue a dialogue there, just not in real-time chat, as we can here)
Let me know if you have any questions at all
