Hi,I have a 3306 CAT engine.Serial number is XXXXX engine is hooked up to stationary generator unit. There is a bad engine oil leak just in front of the fuel shut off solenoid.I believe this may be the govener ( I could be wrong).I need a diagram from a CAT manual if possible so I have an idea what I'am dealing with before I tackle this job.It appears to be leaking from a gasket which is mounted to another part using 2 5/16" bolts.
Hi. Thanks for using JA! I will try and help you out.Yes you are correct. That is the governor. Is the oil leak coming from the housing gasket or near the tach drive on the back of the governor housing?
I'am not exactly sure, I just had a quick look earlier today.
I see, the reason I ask is because it is very common on these engines to have the tach drive seal leak. I have replaced many of these. If it is leaking, installing this seal is not hard but must be done accurately. It rides against the governor collar. If one is not careful, you can accidently moventhe collar and change the rpm of the engine. I can get you a breakdown for your engine. It will take me a few minutes. Be back shortly.
That would be great!
Some of the imaging of these older units is not as good as later engines.
Here is the information you are needing. I hope it helps.
