I am looking for a starter for an Onan diesel 4cyl. 18h.p.@1800

Customer Question

I am looking for a starter for an Onan diesel 4cyl. 18h.p.@1800 rpm engine. It is air cooled and was made for use as a generator engine. I also need a stub shaft assembly that bolts to the flywheel to be able to attach the engine to a generator. The model# XXXXX XXXXX Can you help with locating the starter and perhaps a stubshaft plate? Thank you.

You may have answered half the question, I am not sure as one supplier may have both components. One is the starter, which you may have a source for, but what about the stubshaft? I also need to know the way it is connected, may it be by shaft, sprocket, fluid coupling, pulley or however it is made. But I also need that part also. I purchaced the engine from a gov. auction, so I didn't get any parts or info. on how it was used.

Hi
I did not have much luck with that part of the question,
But on Thermo_king Reefer units and some gen sets I worked on ,
they were spline or coupler that bolted on the generator, and fly wheel of engine had 6 studs(pins)

Customer replied 315 days and 3 hours ago.

This particular genset has 10 or more studs (I didn't count or measure these) that bolt the engine housing to the gen. The engine flywheel has 2 holes tapped appr. 1" apart every 90 degrees, forming a cross pattern. I thought this would be a hard to find item, other then the gen. that it bolt to. Could you tell me the replacement oil filter instead, as mine is painted olive drab. I'd prefer a fram no. but any brand would be better than none. Thanks.
