I am interested in purchasing a MULTIQUIP welder/generator model #DCI-270SS whisper welder ser#2170181. The generator or this machine works OK, but the welding side seems to have a problem. When in welding mode and while you are welding you have hold the electrode very close to the metal while you weld. If you donot hold the electrode at just the right length you break arc, if to close, you stick the electrode. I have welded with Mille,Linclon, and Hobart motor driven portables and non of these machines are as difficult to run as this. You can increase/decrease the Amp setting on the machine and it will adjust, but you still have to maintain that same precise arc length. The machine is rated at 275AMPS welding and has a KUBOTA 3 cylinder diesel engine. Is there any thing I can do to make this machine less arc length critical, and more user friendly?
