Hello, I have a non-machine readable passport that will expire on 2017. But I am going to apply for OPT soon since by 60 day grace period is almost up. Will copies of that passport by accepted by USCIS. I am currently under TPS protection.

Yes. If it is the only passport that you have, then they will accept it.

They are under no law or rue to reject the passport, but many people apply for an updated MRP passport before applying for visas. There is a chance that they will not accept it and could ask for other proof of identity, but it is still a legal valid passport.
