How many years to get an american passport after getting a Green card?
Good afternoon. My name isXXXXX I am licensed immigration attorney. It is my goal to provide you with accurate legal information.

A green card holder is eligible to apply for US citizenship after three years of having lawful permanent residence status in the United States if he or she is married and living with the same US citizen.

In all other cases, the green card holder would need to have lawful permanent residence status for five years.

In either case, the person can submit the N-400 application for US citizenship ninety days prior to the three or five year green card anniversaries respectively.
