I am currently residing in US with my daughter, and filed N-600k form last month. I have a question on interview date scheduling, since it is hard to find the information at UCSIC site. Do I have a choice for the interview schedule? (My child is planning a trip abroad and I am worried that the interview is scheduled during that time. If I do not have choice than I should be careful to buy tickets with open return date so that she can make it for the interview). I would appreciate your help.

No, your daughter would not have a choice regarding interview dates so it would be wise to buy tickets with open return dates. The notice of the interview date is usually two weeks or more but there are not any guarantees as to a specific time frame for your daughter to receive notice.
The N600k was filed in Oct 8, but I have not even received the receipt number yet. Is there a possibility that interview be scheduled around the end of January? My daugher is planning trip from Dec.17 to Jan.21, and if I buy a ticket with fixed date, I can change return date with some penalty. I think if the probability for interview being in January is low, then I think I may buy the ticket and risk paying the penalty in the worst case. I would appreciate your opinion.
It would not be advisable for to speculate as to the date of your daughter's interview because there are too many factors in play such as the volume of applications at this particular district office, the available holiday staffing, etc.
It is certainly possible that your daughter's interview could be scheduled at the end of January but her interview could also be scheduled during her planned trip.
In general, it is most important that she attends the interview because a rescheduled interview generaly results in a very long delay.
If your daughter's trip is important and you are able to change the return flight with ample notice, your plan is certainly reasonable.
