Hyundai Repair Questions? Ask a Mechanic for Answers ASAP
Hi Im David. thanks for visiting the site. so immediately after the collision it wouldn't start?
ok. we can check a few things. when you turn the key to the run position can you hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds?
can you hear the pump running with the key to the run position?
ok. hmmmm. let me find a print and we will check fuses
sorry for the delay. got busy last night. im getting a print right now
check the associated fuses on this print
ok and yes. you should be able to hear it.
have you checked the main, injector and ignition coil fuses also?
ok. when you crank the car, does the security light go out?
no red blinking light, no red security word, no key symbol?
ok, i was wondering if the theft deterrent system was locking you out of starting.
ok. does it even crank when you try to start it?
ok, you will need to access the fuel pump relay. and double check all fuses. you will need to check for power at the relay then we can move on
i will send you a diagram
im on it
its behind the center instrument panel.
pull the trim panel that goes around the radio. it should just pop off, then pull the radio
LET ME PULL A PRINT GIVE ME A FEW THANKS
ok....let me see what we can do here
heres a print.. any other wires? its showing a couple of (P) pink or purple maybe?
you should have power on the green to the pump and the green/orange to the computer. check all those fuses.......
do you mean the square ones with the plastic top?
you are talking about relays then......
you're going to have to check the fusible links ad all fuses in the engine compartment. check the battery positive wire going into the fusebox. check any smaller ground wires that may have been damaged on top of the radiator core support, right and left fenders inside the engine compartment
pull the fuel pump relay. jumper across the contacts 30 to 87 and see if you hear the pump run.
ok. you will have to pull the fuel pump relay. with your meter, probe each position of the relay base til you find 12vdc. no other position should have voltage. then turn the key to the run position and look for 12vdc on another position on the relay. you will now have 2 positions with voltage and 2 without. take a jumper wire and jump from one of the positions with 12vdc to one without, and listen for the fuel pump
its not going to start as long as that relay is out because the other 2 positions have to complete the circuit.
it was running fine before the collision, correct?
ok. gimme a few
do you have a code reader?
when you checked for power at the relay did you have 12vdc at 2 positions with the key on?
ok. let me know
is that a four prong relay?
Im Talking about the engine control relay.
but how many wire? all 8 have wires going in the back?
no, with key on you will have 2 hot
with key off only 1
then change the relay.
the relay isnt opening. if it has power on 2 all the time its closed all the time.
you're correct. im am overthinking this. its been flippin 9 days.
check the 30 amp ecu fusible link
its going from ign switch to engine control relay
pink or purple
