Customer Question

I have a 2002 Hyundia XG 350 and it has a low deep whining/grinding coming from the rear cylinder head. I have checked the timing belt and it looks good. What could this be? Maybe the cam shaft? Please help me out thanks!

Have u heard of this being a problem on these? 5w30 only 87k miles
Expert:  Chad Farhat replied 5 months ago.

1- no not a problem from my experience , but I know they are sensitive ,if the oil pressure drops, i heard the whining on them before but i cant say it is a common problem , i had a few where a lack of maintenance ruined the camshaft ,

2- the mileage is low for the year and you have been using correct oil .

take the valve covers off and inspect , whining you might can live with but if you say grinding i will inspect .
