Ok

This vehicle uses a shift lock cable. It sounds like it's out of adjustment.

Problem is I don't have any information on making said adjustment. There should be a manual override on the cover, just above the position letters. It should be a small piece of plastic that you can pop out, then push a small screwdriver in there and pull it out of park at the same time.

They just don't provide the instructions for the interlock adjustment.
