2011 sonata hybrid. trunk may have been jammed shut to fit luggage in when left for trip. wouldn't close upon return. slid plastic piece to side and it shut. now won't open with fob or pushing on trunk release button in car

It's possible that the trunk latch has failed or there could be something closed in the latch or between the trunk lid and seal. I'm uncertain from your post if the trunk is still loaded with the items you thought may have been against the lid, but if the trunk is still heavily loaded and something is putting upward pressure in the lid that can cause it to be hard to open.

Are the items still in the trunk?

Have you tried pushing downward n the lid while pushing the trunk release?
