Customer Question

My 2007 Hyundai Tucson is not running well. My mechanic read a P0420 and the gas consumption is through the roof. Also I have to manually (sport shift) her to get her above thirty five miles an hour. Everything sounds like it is straining! What could this possibly be?

HI there,

Is this a 6 or 4 cylinder?

Hello I will help you with your question,

The P0420 says the catalytic converter is not doing it's job and may be restricted. Has the mechanic removed the O2 sensor and installed a backpressure gauge to see if the cat is melted and restricting the exhaust?

Sorry, can you tell me if there are any other or were any other codes stored prior to this one?
