04 Hyundai Tiburon, car quits on idle or sometimes won't

Customer Question

04 Hyundai Tiburon, car quits on idle or sometimes won't start back after it's been running. I can stop at a red light and it will just quit running. It is getting fire and have already replaced fuel pump and checked convertor. Any other ideas?

Hi there,

Any check engine light or codes?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
no, it shows no lights or codes
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
when it quits, it's like something just shuts off the fuel and it shuts down
Expert:  Mike V. replied 1 year ago.

Ok,

Can you warm it up so it stalls so we can test a couple ideas?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
sure, it starts fine on cold start, once it warms up is when the problem starts up and usually while driving. I have also changed the TPS, cleaned the mass air flow and throttle plate

Ok, first I would like to have you get it to stalling, then turn it off and disconnect the maf sensor and see if it will start and idle.

This is going to tun on the check engine light so don't be alarmed.

Let me know.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
no, it will not start with the maf sensor unhooked
Expert:  Mike V. replied 1 year ago.

Ok, so if you plug it back in then it will fire up for you as it should?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
it will start

Ok,

Like to have you take off the IAC and clean it up. It might be sticking so try removing it from the throttle body, clean up the pintal and the throttle where the pintal sits and see if there is any improvement.

I am sending along a diagram to help you find it.

no change
Expert:  Mike V. replied 1 year ago.

You took that off the throttle body cleaned it reinstalled it in 5 minutes?

Are you sure you got the right part?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I had done that last night, I had forgot about that
Expert:  Mike V. replied 1 year ago.

Guess that'll have to do it for me.

I will open this back up for the other experts. Possibly someone else has experienced this.

Please don't reply or it will lock it back to me and the others won't even see it.

Also, please don't rate, save it for the expert that can help

Sorry I wasn't able to help today.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I had cleaned that and the throttle plate last night, I worked on it until 1am. I appreciate your help, any advice is appreciated when you're at a stand still, thanks
