Hyundai sonata: The brakes lights are out on my 2003 sonata.

Customer Question

The brakes lights are out on my 2003 sonata. The blubs look ok. Is there a fuse or other potential problem to restore

Hello I will help you with your question,
Might be the brake switch if none of the three work. Look up on the shaft of the brake pedal and find the switch mounted there. Unplug it and connect the wires with a paperclip, if the lights come on then replace the brake switch adjusting it so the lights come on when you just move the pedal but the plunger of the switch is not holding the pedal off its rest .
Let me know what you find and how I can help
Thank you

It is actually the tail lights
Expert:  George H. replied 1 year ago.
The brake lights are in the tail lights? Is it the parking lights? Do the brake and turn signals work?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It is the brake lights the brake light in the back window works just the brake lights in the tail are out.

OK, then do you have a 12 volt testlight to check if the bulb sockets have power when you step on the brakes? Do the tail (parking lights) work?
Do the turn signals work?
Let me know so I can help you test this. It is not the brake switch.
Thank you
