I have a 2006 Sonata; the key will not turn to any position. Will the car need to be towed to repair or replace cylinder? Any problem towing the car since it will remain in part position?

Hello and thank you for choosing just answer.
Did you try to move the steering wheel back and forth while trying to turn the key?
Did you try a spare key if you have one?
Did you try to rock the steering wheel back and forth while trying to turn the key?
Try to do that, Also if that doesn't work try to flip the key to the other side and try to turn it, if that doesn't work try to pull the key out of the ignition just a hair and try to turn it.
Let me know if any of these methods work
OK before you go to the vehicle I will tell you everything so you can try them.
Can you remove the key from the ignition? It goes in but doesn't turn correct?
Do you know if your vehicle has an immobolizer?
OK, I will give you the options you have if the methods that I suggested do not get the key to turn.
First thing you can do is call a mobile locksmith, If there's a locksmith in your area who knows what they are doing they can actually replace the cylinder at the location where your vehicle is and give you a new set of keys that start the vehicle, This will be the least expensive and fastest way to get your car back on the road. If the mobile locksmith in your area is a 18 year old kid who has no clue what to do other than cut new keys then the other option will be to tow your vehicle to your local hyundai dealership and\or your preffered repair facility to replace the cylinder and reprogram the immobolizer if your vehicle have one. Concerning the tow, your vehicle is front wheel drive, even though it's in park if the front wheels are lifter off the ground the vehicle will move and you will have no problem towing it that way, You can get your vehicle out of park without turning the key, there's a little cover next to the transmission which if removed there's a manual override of the park lock which will enable you to get the vehicle out of park without having the key on.
