Electric driver seat back will go forward but will not go back. Everything else on electric driver seat works just fine, just can't get back of seat to go back.
Hi,how are you? This is a failure to the electric seat motor causing your issue. I am also a warranty inspector and have to go and inspect these motors often and they all seem to do the same as yours, goes forward and not backwards there is a plastic arm inside the motor that breaks and causes the problem. The arm is not serviceable and requires replacement of The motor.
Sorry that I haven't responded earlier but I work 6 days a week and haven't had time to check this out. It sound like the fix. The van has been in the shop, a Hyundai dealership, 3 or 4 times for this same problem. They always say they couldn't fine anything wrong but it would be working when the wife picks it up. Now that the warranty is up they are telling me they will have to charge me to fix it. Would this motor plastic arm be breaking this frequently? Do you Know the number of this motor and where I can fine one?
I can't find that motor that you said needed to be replace. Could you help in telling where to find it? Also could the dealer have fixed this problem two or three time before without replacing this motor? Now that the warranty is has run out they tell me they would have to charge me to fix it.
Log #11462401-143, Referring to 2007 Hyundai Entourage SE, electric driver's seat back going forward, but not going back. Today I had a chance to work on it. I took the seat out, tore it apart, took the motor out of the seatback, tore the motor and gear box apart. There was no plastic arm to break. Furthermore, when I tested the motor with a 12v power supply, the motor went forward and backwards indicating that there was no problem with the motor or the gear box. I have not found the plastic arm yet!!! I was able to power the seat back into a more relaxing position. I feel that the answer given was bogus and I should get a refund. Just for your information I have 23 years working with PECO, doing fleetin work on automobiles, trucks and heavy duty equipment. I presently am employed at the USPS (17 years) as an electronic technician working on 5 million dollar mailing equipment. I have designed several modifications for different pieces of equipment, so I do know a little!!! Working six days a week, 10-12 hours a day I have very little time to work on things around my home. Now if you have any questions for me just ask.
