2002 santa fe: right rear control arm(is this the same..rotted

Customer Question

The right rear control arm(is this the same as a trailing arm?) is rotted on my 2002 Sante Fe. Is this common and was there a recall, I read online about a recall on the rear trailing arms for 01-03 Santa Fe's. If I had to repair--how much?? thanks.

That control arm is about $130 and it's only 1/2 an hour of labor.

That is for the lower arm. The upper is the same labor but only costs $90.

My mechanic said he would have to replace entire spindle??? Does that sound right?
Expert:  Neal replied 5 years ago.
That is possible depending on the situation. He would have to determine that when inspecting it.

Is the rear control arm and trailing arm on in the same?
Expert:  Neal replied 5 years ago.

No they are not the same.

Here is the rear suspension layout on your vehicle.

Different expert here . This should be covered at the dealer . If you had to pay out of pocket including the spindle about 400 parts and labor. Call first should be covered. Hoped this helped. Positive feedback and bonuses greatly appreciated.
